The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one or a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.
James Madison, January 30, 1788

You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out
of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
The late Dr. Adrian Rogers, 1931 to 2005.

Prediction: DOW will fall 350+ following Obama’s Deficit Reduction Plan

I admire President Obama’s desire to cut the deficit in half by 2013, but I think we all know what that means — higher taxes. Probably not everyone will see a tax increase, but most likely those that are wealthy and employ other people will be taxed higher, and the cost will be passed down in the form of cut wages and more layoffs.

Why raise taxes for anyone in this economy? The market will react because it’s a bad idea, and -350 points might be a very conservative prediction. We shall see. I hope I’m dead wrong, but history tells another story and that’s the basis of my prediction.

The plan should come tonight or on Thursday.
